Last week at the undergraduate awards assembly, Brother Ege Dalcan (2026) was recognized with the James C. Wyant Award. This award is presented to one undergraduate each year by the Physics department for research accomplishments outside the senior project.
Brother Dalcan has been working with Dr. Corbin Covault and other students and researchers to develop equipment, communication networks, and data acquisition systems to help compare data between the high energy astroparticle detection arrays at Pierre Auger in Argentina and Telescope Array in Utah. This work would help isolate the differences between hardware and testing methods between the two arrays to make comparison and cross-referencing of data easier. Brother Dalcan developed the communication network for this new test equipment that would not interfere with Telecope Array’s existing communication network.
Congratulations, brother!
