Beta Nu Chapter had the pleasure of sending 6 undergraduates and 2 alumni to attend the 162nd Anniversary Convention of Theta Chi Fraternity. The Convention was held in the Flamingo Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The convention is held every 2 years to conduct business pertaining to the International Fraternity, including the election of the Grand Chapter (Theta Chi’s Board of Directors).

The Convention was accompanied by the 38th School of Fraternity Practices, where participants attend classes on leadership and chapter operations with topics ranging from recruitment to scholarship to etiquette. Alumni-focused sessions covered topics from advisory boards to legal challenges for fraternities to insurance.

Awards are also given out at the convention, including the Howard R. Alter Award for Chapter Excellence and the Reginald E.F. Colley Award, Theta Chi’s most prestigious award for an undergraduate brother. 2 brothers of Beta Nu were recognized this year- Brothers Matthew Richter (BN 2012) and John Cleaver (BN 2012) were awarded with the David E. DeVol Award, recognizing, “volunteers at the local, regional, or international level who provide outstanding volunteer service to the Fraternity.”
The chapter’s contingent had a great time at this convention and is coming back to start the school year with new ideas and a renewed enthusiasm for the fraternity. We would like to congratulate the newly elected officers of the Grand Chapter and all those who were recognized for their achievements.
