This Founders Day, Brother John Cleaver (2012) announced the winners of the 2024-2025 Beta Nu Alumni Scholarship. Each winner will receive a $950 scholarship and will be recognized with a certificate at OX Roast in the fall.

2024 Winner: Daniel Borhegyi (2026)

Brother Daniel Borhegyi (2026) started the Fall 2023 semester as the chapter’s Food Steward, but quickly found himself taking over as the Recruitment Chair. It’s a big responsibility, but Brother Borhegyi proved he was up to the task- finishing Fall Rush and setting up more recruitment events throughout the semester. In the wider community, Brother Borhegyi is the Build Master for the student musical theater group, the Footlighters, and Vice President of the Big Games Club, which coordinates campus-wide games like “Humans vs Zombies”. Academically, Brother Borhegyi is studying Computer Science with a 3.755 GPA and works as a Teaching Assistant. He also tries to take advantage of the breadth of courses offered at Case Western Reserve, including a bioethics course focused on healthcare in Amsterdam.
Of the chapter, Brother Borhegyi says, “Joining the Beta Nu Chapter of Theta Chi has been one of the best decisions I have made in college. I’ve found that my brothers in the chapter are some of the most caring and smart people I’ve met in college and living with them has made me much more happy at CWRU and it has motivated me to keep doing better in academics. A lot of the brothers have similar academic plans to me and they have helped me a lot with homework, planning my semester, and accomplishing my academic goals. Additionally, the brothers have encouraged me to make more personal connections in college and take better care of myself in terms of diet, exercising, and taking time to relax and de-stress.”
2024 Winner: James Gómez-Faulk (2027)

Brother James Gómez-Faulk (2027) serves as the chapter’s First Guard and Membership Development Chair. In both positions, he is able to help create connection within the chapter. As Membership Development Chair, he has worked with his committee to run professional development workshops to help brothers know how to put their best foot forward after college. In the wider community, Brother Gómez-Faulk has served as Treasurer for the Case Juggling club and is a member of the Society of Physics Students and the (gender inclusive) Women in Physics and Astronomy Club. Academically, Brother Gómez-Faulk is studying Physics with a 4.0 GPA and works as a Supplemental Instructor for an introductory physics class. He is also taking many Dance classes and hopes to be able to perform at a professional level before continuing to pursue Physics at a graduate level.
Of the chapter, Brother Gómez-Faulk says, “Coming into college, I did not in any way expect to join a Greek life organization. However, upon becoming involved with the Beta Nu Chapter of Theta Chi, I quickly realized how supportive, enriching, and otherwise mutually beneficial Greek life could be. As a first-year student, I had for a long time been looking forward to the opportunity to grow into myself that I knew I could find at college. And while Theta Chi was not a part of this plan, I have found that the central values of brotherhood, kindness, and the Helping Hand have become intrinsic to my own personal growth. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I see every day the impacts that such values have within and external to our chapter. I feel strongly that my involvement with Theta Chi is a positive influence on my college and life experience as a whole, including but not limited to my long- and short- term goal-making, my interpersonal relationships and communication skills, and my persistence and drive in achieving academic and personal growth. I am convinced that the greater [Beta Nu] chapter helps each and every one of its members grow into gracious and caring individuals, and I am extremely proud to consider myself a part of this community.”
